I'm still bitter that my knowledge bowl team lost in the semi-finals Junior year of high school. One time I was dating this guy and I kept being upset about it and he was like "Are you ever going to let this go?" and I was like "Never" and I'd like to formally declare I will still never let it go. It was grossly unfair.
My second grade crush taught Sunday School today and let's just say I had good taste as a second grader.
The amount of times I've tried to become an internet sensation would astound you. So many hidden videos and twitter accounts, guys.
Friday was Harry Potter's birthday and I, self-proclaimed HP Fanatic, didn't even celebrate in any way. There's a lot more complications going into why I didn't, but I'm frankly embarrassed I didn't wear my Chudley Cannons t-shirt. If ever there was a time to wear it, it would have been Friday (don't worry, I will obviously still wear it other days).
I'm going into my Junior year of college and I have yet to figure out what I'm going to major in. Ha.
Every year for Christmas and my birthday between the age of 11 and 16, I asked for an agent for my birthday. Sometimes I still want one.
I listen to Nocturne No. 2 in E Flat Major, Op. 9 on repeat whenever I'm sad, happy, tired, calm, or upset. So really there's no telling what I'm feeling but I've been listening to it a lot lately.
I prayed for dates the other night, guys.

creep follow-up
Lindsey, you win*.
Sorry to the rest of you (and by that I mean David because I was very disappointed only two people deemed it necessary to share).
I know there's more creeper stories out there. Together, I think we can all pull through this and find a light at the end of this creepy tunnel. We can try to act a little more socially acceptable alone in our rooms, and stop stalking people.
Ha. Who am I kidding? Carry on.
Since I promised, my ultimate creeper story goes as follows:
One night my dear friend Kendra came to pick me up. We had no set plans, deciding instead to make them up as we went. It of course makes sense, then, that when she pulled up to my house in a large, white, 15-seater van, we went with that. It was the ultimate creepster van, and even had curtains and blinds we could pull down to be MORE creepy. We decided to stalk people.
So off we drove into the relatively safe city of Cedar Hills, looking for our first victim. Since we still had some common sense, we decided not to stalk any girls who were alone. Upon reaching our destination (the high school), Kendra and I noticed two acquaintances of ours heading to their cars after a debate tournament of some kind. Picking our unsuspecting friend, Nicco, we proceeded to follow him home.
Somewhere into his neighborhood he became aware there was a white van following his every twist and turn. Still, he proceeded to head to his home (something I'd probably not recommend), and when he got out of his car to walk to his door, Nicco walked slowly and with a very suspicious look at our van. Our van slowed to a crawl while we watched him enter his house (at this point his friend had showed up too, so thank goodness he wasn't alone), and then we proceeded to screech off into the night.
A creepy job well done, and an incredibly fun memory. I guess a few days later Kendra decided to come clean and tell Nicco it had been us, and it turns out Nicco's family had been out of town (which made him twice as scared), and he slept with a knife under his pillow that night.
So... I don't recommend this, kiddies. Let's not scare too many people, shall we? Keep the creeping to your rooms and through the computers, yes?
Also, I hope you all had a wonderfully merry Christmas yesterday! I know my day was delightful and informal. Staying in with my family and never changing out of my pajamas was the best decision ever.
*I don't really have a prize for you except for a virtual pat on the back. So... *pat* ...there.

intellect decline
Sometimes, I realize that since I've gotten to college, I've become dumber.
I mean, I'd still consider myself a smart, educated person, overall.
But then I go to write a paper and I write a piece-of-crap kind of paper because I know (for the right classes) I'll still get an A. And back when I was writing papers for Birrell and Woolsey, I knew that would never fly. And I wanted to impress them with my papers, so I would work hard to write good ones.
Also, perhaps I'm just a better spontaneous writer. As in, I can write killer FRQs and DBQs, but when it comes to writing a long paper that I've been assigned for weeks, I hate it. Because I don't like editing and reviewing and changing things. I'll just keep it at that first draft.
And this is seriously the most boring blog post ever, I don't know why I thought you'd be interested in this. But, it's just something I've observed.
So thank you, Birrell and Woolsey, for teaching me how to write. But it seems without you, I'm awful.
I just really need to get out of GE classes.

Fashionably Late.
The winner for the dress poll was the sparkly black one. Pretty retro, eh? Even better was my awesome date, Mooney.
"act like you're laughing in a magazine!"
dance group of high school
Alright, so then there was Prom, which was pretty rockin' with Breton. I loved my dress, and my hair was perfect, thanks to this talented lady.
the date and the dad: awesome, just how i like them

And on to graduation!
We all got ready, and I may have stolen a poster from the school hallway to hang in my house. But I made it, so I don't feel bad.
We went to Yamato's for an early dinner, and I opened a few presents.

So because it was nearly impossible to find anyone outside the Marriott Center, Alyssa, Whitney and I got all dressed up again for a couple pictures the next day.
So when alyssa and I tried to think of some "thing" we have, the obvious answer was Harry Potter.

candid and chronological.
Then we sauntered on over to the Marriott Center for the actual graduation.

I got to sit on the stand because of student council, which was totally awesome. Me and the top 30 scholars baby! Though... not apart of them. Which I'm cool with.
So then some people talked. And sang. And played their instruments. And talked some more (everything actually went surprisingly fast, considering how big my class was). And then I walked! Woot. Only apparently I walked too fast, because there are definitely more pictures on our camera of my ward friends and cousins walking than there are of me. Ha. Actually, now that I think back to it, I can't even remember the actual calling of my name and hand shaking and diploma receiving, much.
After the ceremony, I couldn't find my family for a good 15 or 20 minutes. But when I finally did, here's what I looked like:
I love this picture because it perfectly describes how I felt. This huge bouquet of flowers in my face (which I loved, they were from my yard), and a giant smile. I was so relieved to finally have it over. I loved high school, I loved the graduation ceremony. But I was just excited! I couldn't stop smiling and laughing for the longest time. Which ended up being pretty darn long, because I had the all-night party. But more of that later. Here's some other lovely pictures captured.

appreciate how lost i look
and how awkward

So that's that! Graduation was a success. And the all-night party. Which, unfortunately, I have minimal pictures of. Ah, well. I didn't sleep once and me and Mel never showed signs of exhaustion.
I'm just glad to be moving out! In a week... even though the beginning of this post says two. Obviously, I take a while to finish posts sometimes.

This is it.
...No really, this is it.
I can hardly believe it. Actually, I can't at all.
I graduate from high school tomorrow.
What a strange concept. To be completely down with something that has been a part of my life since I was 5. No more of the public school system. No more lockers. No more theatre. No more so many things.
About this time last year, we as a student council went on a great retreat- Bird's eye. It was there that Kelsey and I submitted that "This is it" be our theme for the year, and it was there that all the SBOs agreed on it. Despite the fact that often this theme has seemed over-used and many jokes were made off of it, I am so grateful for our theme. What better motto to go with our final year of high school?
Because really, this is it. I hate when people go through life with a "I'll be happy when" mentality. "Oh, I'll be happy when I'm in college." "When I have a family." "When I get through school."
No. Be happy now, because this is what's happening. This is it.
And now I've reached such a pivotal "this is it" moment in my own life, with graduation less than 24 hours away. Everything is going to change. I'm fine with that change, in all honesty. Maybe it hasn't settled in and I'll be an emotional wreck next fall, but let's hope not.
I'm pretty sure I might shed some tears at graduation tomorrow though. And yay me, I get to sit on the stand for everyone to watch me cry. So if you happen to see that, just pretend you didn't. Also, find me at graduation all you people, I want a picture.
So guys: it's been fun, and I can't wait for our futures - because they're here, right before us.
This is it.

Dear Friends
(please read this "dear" as "dear to me"... not like a letter)
I love my life!
Just in case you were wonderin'.
Being a Senior in High School in the last two weeks of school totally rocks. My Senior pictures are done, and oh, the joy! I'm too lazy to put them up here individually, but click here to view them at my photographer's website, and be prepared to be amazed with her excellent work. Basically, Amanda is incredible. In case you guys were wonderin' that too. She's also doing Trina and Tanner's wedding, which makes me excited because obviously she's going to capture the beauty in a phenomenal way.
Last night I went to work in a good mood. Quickly, this mood turned to hyper. By the time we were closing I was playing the broom guitar, and I think my fellow employees were really confused because up to this point, I've been rather quiet at work. Oh-ho... little did they know...
Tonight I'm gonna ROCK it out at the Senior Dinner Dance. I've been practicing whipping my hair back and forth, ladies and gentlemen.... And let me say the best time to do so is definitely RIGHT after you finish straightening your hair.
As for now, I'm going to go chop some salad at work. Wish me luck!

It is finished.
...My AP English Literature & Composition test.
I did it this morning.
Showed up in my sweats, comfy shoes, and lucky t-shirt, with my hair free-flowing for maximum (calming) nervous-habit twirling.
I had four pencils, and three pens. My favorite pens, of course.
I sat right in the middle.
I answered 55 questions and read 5 passages in 60 minutes.
I wrote 3 essays in 2 hours.
AND I CONQUERED.

it just felt good.
So Friday, I was dancin' it up at Club Tech (basically a dance party on the stage at LP), and I took the mic and turned to the guy next to me, and said, "Hey, so... want to go to Spring Fling?" And he said, "Sure." I felt good about it.
The next day, Lone Peak Boys became 5A State Champs. And I felt good about it.
Yesterday, one of my best friends, who always will be, no matter how much time passes in between our time together, came over and we talked for hours. I felt good about it.
Today, I went over to Miss. Shelby's and we ate pancakes and talked for a long time until I realized I was late for when I was supposed to be home. I felt good about it.
This evening, my family and I played Nertz for the first time in months.
I felt good about it.

letters
Dear 30-Day thing,
I'm not sure if I want to finish you. But I don't want to seem like I'm 1) giving up, or 2) simply stopping because everyone else is. We'll see. Maybe we can work out a compromise?
Love,
Anna
Dear Illness,
Why do you choose to come to me now?? I feel like the way you creeped up on me slowly throughout the day was unfair. One moment I'm unsuspecting, and the next - WHAM. Yeah, thanks. If you're the para-influenza thing that visited Garrett a couple weeks ago, I hate you (actually, I hate you no matter what you are. Because all you do is make people sick). Please don't keep me out of school as long as you did for him. Please be more apparent when I talk so people don't say to me, "But you don't sound sick." Because yes people, I'm lying. You're only sick if you can hear it in your voice.
Just go away.
Sincerely,
Anna
Dear Essay,
Write yourself.
Please?,
Anna
Dear Self,
You have officially reached the point of insanity. Writing letters like this? It worries me... So... it worries you... I think. Also, you've reached a level of awkwardness previously thought to not be accessible by humans, only small rodents and ugly plants. Would you stop stalking people? Get over it. Go do something worthwhile.
Avec amour,
Anna

day 6:
{your day}
5:50 Alarm blares. Fist pounds. Snooze.
6:00 Alarm blares. Fist pounds. Snooze. Turn on lamp.
6:10 Alarm blares. Fist pounds. Clock off. Sit up.
6:19 Enter bathroom, commence getting ready.
7:02 Cereal.
7:22 Family prayer.
7:26 Pick up neighbor.

7:47 Enter AP Lit. Analyze A Doll House. Consider moving seats, secretly want to, but stay in usual.
9:07 Head to Aerobics with Kendra.
9:20 Commence kickboxing with our 70 year old teacher that's more fit that 95% of Lone Peak. She has us shout things like "No!" and "Out of my way!" while pretending to stomp on our attacker, punch them, slam their head against our knee. She instructs us not to smile, to glare "fiercely" at our reflection in the mirror.
10:43 Run out to front of school with Kendra, into the softly falling snow. Spread our hands wide and spin.
10:44 Wish Sue Faux a happy birthday.
10:48 Enter Student Council.
11:03 Get Steph's shoes from locker, and grab some chocolate while I'm at it.
11:04 Eat chocolate.
11:33 Tie balloons.
11:42 Prepare for lunchtime activity.
12:15 Lunchtime activity: listen to Mrs. Dalton sing an Indian song to the rising sun. Face the east and repeat.
12:25 Get.... pizza. Again.
12:28 Enjoy lunch with Carlie, Kendra, Syd, and Shelby in the best room in the school - Birrell's. Nearly eat table cleaner. Threaten others with it.
12:45 Volunteer to run Knowledge Bowl on Thursday and Friday.
12:48 Eat a cake shaped like a giant slacker pass.
12:57 Sing, sing, sing. Enjoy a hilarious period with Sarah, giggling and making raptor noises (and therefore getting yelled at), quoting youtube videos and talking in silly voices.
2:20 Chat briefly with Miss. Ure.
3:00 Eat Texas Roadhouse leftovers and begin cupcake (later taken away. apparently it's my sisters?) while wasting time online.
3:48 Arrange a vase of flowers.
4:23 Sit by fire. Stare blankly. Nearly fall asleep.

i am writing.
so here i am.
writing.
i don't really know what i'm writing about, to be honest. i just felt like i've neglected my blog of late a little. and not that you really care or missed it, but i feel like keeping it updated is a good thing for me. so i've decided to force myself to write something and we'll just see what comes from these clicking keys.
you may have noticed i'm writing in lower case, and a lack of capitalization exists.
you are not, indeed, going crazy. because i most definitely have been using correct punctuation (to the best of my abilities) up to this point in time.
but something happened the other day. i got really really sick of doing that. i don't know why, but it happened. so i'm using lower case for the time being. if you feel this lowers your opinion of me, i'm sorry.
anywho. the new year came and went and i didn't do much to celebrate it on this blog (or anywhere, really. i felt nauseous as the clock hit midnight, and promptly left a party. what an awesome way to ring in the new year, right?). so. i'm going to just jump on this bandwagon going around by saying i'm jumping on the bandwagon.
i'll let you know about this past year.
pictures? yes, i like that idea.
okay no wait. not just yet. first, reflection.
i learned a lot this year. i really changed and grew as a person, and i feel entirely different from how i felt this time last year. 2010 was, all in all, a really great year filled with happy stories.
some lessons i already knew and some lessons i learned:
1. making new friends is the best.
2. hard work pays off (the ap test, student council, my job, etc.)
3. my family consists of my closest friends, and i love them all so much.
4. change is healthy.
5. acceptance of change is even healthier.
6. this is it.
7. high school is the best.
8. ...that i know so far. because i can't wait to go to college.
9. teachers can teach more than their subject.
10. i love history.
11. communication is important in any type of relationship (friends, love interests, parents)
12. and texting is not communicating.
13. you can't ever wait for someone else's approval to feel validated. you need to love yourself anyway.
14. this church is without a doubt true.
15. classy things and classy people make life.... classy.
16. follow through on everything.
17. disappointments come and go.
18. you can't ever want to please someone so much you compromise yourself.
19. and speaking of which, i really like myself. and i'm okay with how i am.
20. smiles and positive thinking can turn a day around in an instant.
okay so i'm sorry that was a lot. but i learned a lot this year, so.... yeah. maybe we can have a heart to heart and i can elaborate on each point. i tried to keep them as concise as possible.
and now for pictures.
my disclaimer is that our computer died last spring, so i don't particularly want to go through all those photos because that means doing something complicated. maybe a couple of pictures from pre-computer-crash, but mostly they're from this summer and fall and winter.

bird's eye: student council retreat, our attractive photoshoot.
youth conference: june. team "delivery"!
me and kendra: lagoon.
girl's camp: me and my girls. :) only the best group ever. (mary poppins forever.)
the fifth of july: spent the day with evan and his family at the freedom festival in provo. me and his sister claire got matching hair, and it totally rocked.
girl's night: this is the only picture i had from the time maddy spent here, so it's rather lame. but the point is that my very best friend came to visit me.
drive-in: me, sarah, alyssa, caroline, christian, and becca all went to a drive-in theater. life goal? check.
park city: kendra and i had a blast on top of a mountain, among other things.
dixie: leadership conference in st. george. best. council. ever.
first day of senior year. drivin to school in indiana.
evan and i went to the john mayer concert. amazing? heck yeah.
sadie's with christian. we went to the space center for our day date. uh, as cool as you think it is? yeah, it was.
evan took me to homecoming. yes, it was wonderful.
we went and saw ingrid michaelson! oh man, she rocks.
music man. what a fun experience. the lovely pick-a-littles pictured above.
christmas. this is about... 1/3 of our ornaments? maybe half? i don't have awesome pictures of my family on my computer, but know that i spent most of my break relaxing with them. and oh was it good.
okay. so that was long. i'm sorry. thanks for pulling through if you've read this far!
here's the deal. i'm going to start that 30 day thing with my friend shelby tomorrow. ah.
rather than explaining all the thought that went into this decision, just go read her musings about it.
maybe you'll be entertained, i don't know. anyway.
post over.
...p.s. i'm wearing dress #1 :)
writing.
i don't really know what i'm writing about, to be honest. i just felt like i've neglected my blog of late a little. and not that you really care or missed it, but i feel like keeping it updated is a good thing for me. so i've decided to force myself to write something and we'll just see what comes from these clicking keys.
you may have noticed i'm writing in lower case, and a lack of capitalization exists.
you are not, indeed, going crazy. because i most definitely have been using correct punctuation (to the best of my abilities) up to this point in time.
but something happened the other day. i got really really sick of doing that. i don't know why, but it happened. so i'm using lower case for the time being. if you feel this lowers your opinion of me, i'm sorry.
anywho. the new year came and went and i didn't do much to celebrate it on this blog (or anywhere, really. i felt nauseous as the clock hit midnight, and promptly left a party. what an awesome way to ring in the new year, right?). so. i'm going to just jump on this bandwagon going around by saying i'm jumping on the bandwagon.
i'll let you know about this past year.
pictures? yes, i like that idea.
okay no wait. not just yet. first, reflection.
i learned a lot this year. i really changed and grew as a person, and i feel entirely different from how i felt this time last year.
