we are all so human

Because my friend just sent me an example text followed by:

"...Is that too much I'm-your-friend-only or is it too I-wouldn't-mind-bearing-your-children-someday...?"

But the truth is she wouldn't mind bearing his children.

And earlier today at work I had this conversation:

Me: "...experts like Warren Buffet are naming to be the top 3 money-making opportunities in 2012, I have some free tickets for-"
Customer: "No, the best money-making opportunity is welfare."
Me: "Pardon?"
Customer: "That's not the best way to make money."
Me: *Explains why real estate is a good investment in this market*
Customer: "Yeah, no, I make loads of money. Through welfare."
Me *head slap*

I make driving mistakes on occasion, but when someone else makes one I scream at them and sometimes pound my steering wheel.

And sometimes I get so darn shaky when I don't even think I'm nervous because I'm just a human and nothing more.

optimistic

Today just feels like an excellent day already, you know?

It's only 8 am, but I can already feel the good day vibes coming my way. You know the one? Or sometimes there are those nostalgic days? Where something in the air smells or just feels familiar? Those are my favorite.

Anyway, when I woke up to turn off my alarm today, I discovered a nice golden-colored light in the room, and the alarm woke me up the first time (quite the miracle, I'm telling you).

So here's to today being filled with positive thoughts and laughter and cheer. I hope your day exceeds all your expectations.

happy days will come to me all year

For the birthday yesterday, I received some red lipstick and the new (relatively speaking - it came out in February) Ingrid Michaelson CD, among other things. I am one happy camper.

I think birthdays are the best when celebrated with family. I love spending time with my friends, but it always feels a little bit wrong when we celebrate the actual day of. However, that's not to say I don't enjoy spending time with friends the day of my birthday, but mostly I just really love my family. They're the best.

because frankly

I have to eat the lucky charms marshmallows in spoonfuls of even numbers,

and my steps have to be even in sidewalk squares too.

Tell me I have an OCD, or whatever, but I think we all have a little of that in us.

Sometimes I feel rotten and rude with the way I treat people,

sometimes I think I'm the best kind of human,

and other times I think I'm probably the most despicable one the planet.

Water is good,

and milk is a miracle,

but soda is for bi-monthly occasions.

I think I want to be swept off my feet and be kissed in the rain,

but all in all I think I'd really just love to be scooted into love and kissed in whatever location,

because what truly matters is if he'll watch Harry Potter and LOTR with me when I'm feeling blue.

God is an artist,

I truly believe that.

Just look at the setting sun and tell me it isn't true.

I love colors on my toenails,

but fingernails are always a 'no',

because frankly,

my nailbeds are huge.

88.1 can always hit the spot,

but some nights it must be NPR or Showtunes Saturday Night.

I imagine myself to be opinionated,

to never care what others think,

but in reality I just want to please.

Camping makes me feel rejuvenated,

because there's something about seeing the dust of the milkyway,

and wearing no makeup except the dirt around you,

and waking up in a tent.

It's magical, I tell you.

all in all

I started this 8 week healthy living challenge with my mom on Monday. It involves drinking lots of water, eating correct servings of fruits and vegetables, monitoring your sugar intake, working out, and some other stuff. So far, I love it. Some of it is hard. Like when I work at a snocone shack and I just want some peach with cream on top. But mostly it's really good, and I already feel better.

I've always appreciated holidays, but I think I appreciate them more now that it means no work. Because I can't tell you how delightful it was to leave the call center yesterday knowing I didn't have to come back today. I'm really grateful for this country I live in, and all the freedoms I enjoy. Want some good patriotic and funny videos? Try this one. Oh, this one is good too and my family quotes it all the time.

In other news, my mountains are burning as we speak. Those fires in Utah just got personal when they hit my hometown. Really humbling and sad to see the beautiful mountains up in smoke, and hear of so many relatives and friends having to evacuate. Prayers would be much appreciated.

Went back to campus the other day, and golly did it make me miss it. Walked into the library and the smell greeted me like an old and musty friend.

Anway, I'm sorry I've been bad at writing as of late, and I plan on being better. Maybe taking more pictures, documenting more moments, and reflecting on more things.

My life is monotonous, but it's a great kind of monotony. Because frankly, things are quite good.
